Why your earwax-removal booking may need a suitability check

Booking a home visit should be straightforward. Sometimes, however, an answer in the booking form means we need to speak with you before an appointment can be confirmed. We can help you understand the next step and check the arrangements with you.

At Earwax Removal Expert, we provide mobile ear care across Maidstone and Mid Kent. Our questions help us decide whether our service is an appropriate next step and what needs discussing before a consultation.

A booking request and a confirmed appointment are different

Choosing a time and entering your contact details creates a request. To confirm an eligible, available visit automatically, complete the required suitability and home-visit address form. Look for the saved confirmation on screen and the confirmation email; check Junk or Spam if an email is missing.

Some requests need review instead. For example, an under-18 visit, a suitability answer needing discussion, unverified travel pricing or a calendar conflict can prevent automatic confirmation. Contact us using your existing request rather than making another booking. A pending request is not confirmation that treatment has been agreed.

Arranging a visit for a child

Our online process asks anyone arranging an under-18 visit to contact us before confirmation. Tell us the child's age and who will accompany them, so we can discuss suitability and the parent or guardian arrangements.

This is our booking review process, not a statement that one age rule applies to every ear-care provider. A child’s visit must be considered individually; an online time selection alone does not establish that treatment is suitable.

Recent infections, symptoms and medication

Please tell us about a current or recent ear infection, any treatment prescribed and whether symptoms remain. We may need to clarify that history before arranging a visit, even if you feel better. Do not stop or change prescribed medication to make a booking; follow the prescriber's instructions.

The NHS explains that ear infections can cause symptoms including pain, discharge and difficulty hearing. A blocked feeling is not enough to identify the cause. If hearing has not returned after treatment for an infection or wax build-up, the NHS advises seeing a GP. Read NHS ear-infection guidance and NHS hearing-loss guidance.

Answer accurately, including “not sure”

An answer requiring discussion is a useful safety check. Please do not change an accurate answer simply to continue online. If you are unsure, contact us and explain the question you need help with. We can discuss arrangements directly; please do not put medical information in the address field.

Enter the full home-visit address

The address box needs the house number or name, street and town. Enter the full postcode separately. A house number alone is not enough to locate a visit.

The postcode checker estimates the driving distance and price. A successful price result does not replace the suitability check or confirm an appointment. If a lookup is temporarily unavailable, contact us to check travel rather than assuming we cannot visit.

When medical advice should come first

Seek an urgent GP appointment or NHS 111 help for sudden hearing loss, hearing worsening over days or weeks, or hearing loss with earache or discharge. Call 111 for advice about a child under 5. Do not wait for a routine wax-removal appointment. Read the NHS urgent hearing-loss advice.

Clear prices and help with your request

£70 up to 10 road miles; £80 over 10 to 15 road miles; £90 over 15 to 30 road miles, travel included. Your home visit includes travel, a consultation, an ear examination and wax removal where suitable, for one clear price. The full visit fee also applies if no wax is present or removal is not suitable or cannot be completed.

Suitability is assessed before treatment, and a confirmed visit does not guarantee that wax removal will be appropriate. We explain the findings and next steps.
