Hello, I'm James. I am NHS trained. For over three years, I've worked in care homes and clinics in Ireland and the UK, including Glasgow, as well as providing mobile ear care. That hands-on experience is the foundation of Ear Wax Removal Expert, my new mobile service for Maidstone and mid-Kent. I bring the equipment to your home, examine your ears and use the removal method that is appropriate for you on the day.
Why has traditional ear syringing changed?
You may remember having your ears “syringed” at your GP surgery. In June 2018, NICE advised against traditional manual ear syringing because of risks such as injury to the eardrum and infection.
This did not mean that all NHS earwax removal stopped. NICE recommends considering electronic ear irrigation, microsuction or appropriate manual removal by trained practitioners. Availability varies locally, and not every GP surgery offers earwax removal.
I offer these modern removal methods during home visits, choosing the approach that is suitable for your ears after an examination.
