What happens at home
We discuss your hearing and ear history, examine both ears, and choose a suitable approach. Equipment for microsuction, warm water irrigation and manual removal is brought to the visit. You receive advice afterwards.
Minimum age 5. A parent or guardian must sign the consultation form and be present for ages 5 to 16. Tell us about pain, discharge, infection, perforation, grommets, surgery or medical concerns in the booking and consultation forms; treatment suitability is checked at the visit. For sudden hearing loss, contact an urgent GP service or NHS 111 rather than waiting for a wax-removal appointment.
